Tips for optimizing the lifespan of a rooftop solar installation
In a rooftop solar installations, it is advisable to use ground cables with tinned copper conductors. These cables prevent galvanic corrosion when connecting metals with different potentials. Galvanic corrosion can severely damage the metal with a more negative potential (anode) by causing oxidation as it releases electrons to the metal with a less negative potential. This way, the lifespan of the solar installation is optimized.

Grounding cables, easily identifiable by their yellow/green color, have higher conductivity than the human body. If an electric shock were to occur – due to a cable degraded by cold, extreme heat, or UV rays – the electric current finds it easier to be redirected to the ground through the cable itself, thus preventing personal harm.
Additionally, grounding cables optimize signal quality, reduce electromagnetic interference, and ensure the safety of individuals, protecting them from potential electric shocks.
HOW TO PREVENT CORROSION AND DEGRADATION CAUSED BY UV RAYS ON A ROOFTOP SOLAR INSTALLATION
The Toxfree® ZH Outdoor H07Z1-K (AS) Cu/Sn s a high-end solar cable specially designed for outdoor grounding connections in photovoltaic installations. In addition to the advantages we have already seen with its tinned copper conductor, its sheath has been specifically designed for outdoor photovoltaic installations, making it highly resistant to corrosion and degradation from ultraviolet (UV) rays according to the solar standard EN 50618.
It is a halogen-free cable with the highest CPR fire classification: B2ca-s1a, d1, a1, suitable for industrial, public, or residential installations.
