Solar self-consumption becomes a strategic axis for Top Cable
The electric cable manufacturer’s strategic sustainability and self-consumption plan is called #MovinGreen. Their plan is based on four main pillars: renewables, recycling, reduction of energy consumption and responsible packaging.

SOLAR SELF-CONSUMPTION AT ALL TOP CABLE PRODUCTION CENTERS
The Management Committee of Top Cable has defined four sustainability priorities (renewables, recycling, reduction of energy consumption, and responsible packaging) to address the challenges the company will face in the coming years and to materialize existing opportunities.
Top Cable’s sustainable energy project currently ensures that all of the company’s production centers have solar self-consumption. In total, over 19,700 photovoltaic panels have been installed across 6 facilities, generating more than 9,400 MWh annually. This translates to a reduction of the company’s emissions by up to 4.520 tons of CO2 per year. To put these figures into perspective, this amount of emissions is equivalent to planting 6.000 trees.

The headquarters in Rubí (Barcelona) is equipped with more than 4,500 panels covering two facilities, with a total capacity of 2.0 MW and an annual energy production of 2,490 MWh. The Sallent (Barcelona) facilities have surpassed 10,500 installed solar panels. These are distributed across 3 buildings and generate a total capacity of 4.2 MW, producing an annual energy of 4,779 MWh.
In Bellpuig (Lleida), there’s a covered facility with 3,208 installed panels generating a total capacity of 1.3 MW and producing 1,516 MWh of energy annually. Finally, the solar self-consumption project in Binaced (Huesca) is being consolidated. It has recently started operating partially, generating 0,6MWp. The project’s capacity will reach up to 842 kWp, projected to maximize the performance of this installation.

INSTALLATIONS USING TOPSOLAR® H1Z2Z2-K CABLE
For the connection of the photovoltaic panels, TOPSOLAR® H1Z2Z2-K cable, manufactured by Top Cable, has been used. This is a high-performance solar cable that holds the TÜV certification according to EN 50618. Furthermore, it complies with the highest solar classification CPR (Cca-s1b, d2, a1, according to EN 50575).
GREEN ENERGY
The remaining electrical consumption of Top Cable comes from green energy sourced from renewables or highly efficient cogeneration.
NEXT GENERATION FUNDS, AN INCENTIVE FOR SOLAR SELF-CONSUMPTION
All photovoltaic installations have been carried out with the financial support of the European Union under the Next Generation program. You can find more information about the assistance provided by the European Union for installations related to self-consumption using renewable energy sources (RES) here.
ONE OF EUROPE’S LARGEST ELECTRIC CHARGING STATIONS
Top Cable, following its #movingreen sustainability plan and faithful to its goal of replacing fossil energy with consumption from renewable sources, has inaugurated one of the largest electric charging stations in Europe at its headquarters in Rubí (Barcelona). The facility has 156 recharging points and an individual power of 7.2 KW.

The charging stations, compatible with all types of electric vehicles, are equipped with the latest technology, enabling fast and efficient charging for Top Cable employees and collaborators. The facility has a total capacity of 234 parking spaces and uses solar energy from the photovoltaic panels installed on the pergola covering the parking spaces. In environmental terms, the annual CO2 savings are estimated at 540 tons of CO2/year.
In conclusion, Top Cable remains committed to its goal of replacing fossil energy with renewable sources.
