A fire resistant cable for emergency circuits

To put it as simply as possible, a Data Centre is a building with immense energy needs and expensive electronic equipment. It is a major fire hazard that needs to be controlled by installing fire-resistant cable for emergency circuits. Often, the cables are responsible for spreading the fire as they enter the building and pass through the floor and ceiling of each room. It is easy to say that fire safety should be at the top of the priorities during the design phase of the Data Centre.

MAIN CABLE FOR EMERGENCY CIRCUITS

The RZ1-K (AS+) cable was specially designed and enhanced to be the main cable for emergency circuits in a Data Centre.

During a fire, heat and flames will melt the outer sheath, and then come in contact with a thin film we include called a mica tape. As fire touches it, the film chemically reacts and becomes ceramic, thus protecting the conductor and allowing the cable to continue working. This is especially helpful for emergency lighting, door locks, sprinklers, and other emergency equipment.

COMPLIES WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Our fire resistant cable is best in class for Data Centres as it fully complies with several international standards. The most important are IEC 60331-2 (120min at 840C) / IEC 60331-1 / EN 50200 / EN 50362 / VDE 0276-604 and goes further with BS 6387 Class C (180min at 950C). These certifications ensure that the cable and emergency systems will continue to function for these periods and at these temperatures. This ensures that people can safely find their way out and evacuate the building as intended in the event of a fire, putting the value of installing a fire resistant cable for emergency circuits.

To offer complete protection, the RZ1-K (AS+) is a B2ca-s1a,d1,a1. Higher spec than Cca that will self extinguish in 1.5m, low smoke, no fire droplets, and low acidity. Zero halogens protect both people and equipment. Most of the time, people die in a fire due to breathing toxic smoke, and not the actual flames or fire. Smoke coming from a zero halogen cable is not toxic to breath and will allow people to have better visibility. When in contact with water from the sprinklers, zero halogen smoke does not corrode electronic equipment, protecting racks and chips from short and long term damage.

As all our enhanced cables for Data Centres, this flexible cable requires less space when bending, installation time and difficulty is significantly reduced, and replacing a small or large section of a flexible cable is a very simple task.

Our RZ1-K (AS+) is a fire resistant cable for emergency circuits that goes beyond all others to protect people and equipment during a fire, and it was especially designed to perform best in a data center, where there is an immense amount of energy usage and expensive equipment, in one place.
